About Right On Sod
We are a sod company, not a general landscaper. Lawns are what we do, from the soil under them to the first watering.
How Right On Sod Works
Right On Sod is a specialist. We do not build patios or plant hedges, and we do not sell lawn-cutting plans. Our work starts when a yard has no lawn, or has one that has stopped working, and it ends when a healthy new lawn is rooting into properly prepared ground.
Evan leads the company and is closely involved in how jobs are run. That focus has shaped the way we quote. Sod is simple to price and easy to do badly, so we publish our rates, tell you what the prep involves, and put a firm number in writing after we have seen the yard.
We came to Mississauga, Brampton and south Caledon with a simple view: homeowners here deserve to know what a new lawn costs before they invite anyone over, and they deserve an honest answer about whether they need one at all. Sometimes a lawn can be saved, and we will tell you when that is the case. Keeping our focus narrow is what lets us stay good at it.
Grade First, Then Sod
Peel's clay is hard on lawns. It holds water in spring, sets hard in summer, and compacts under every machine and footstep. A new lawn laid on top of that can look perfect for a month and start failing by the next year.
So we think about water and soil before we think about grass. On each job we check which way the ground falls and whether it moves water away from the house. We look at what is under the surface, loosen what has been packed down, and shape the yard so sod lies flat with its roots against the soil. Only then do the rolls come off the truck.
We also try to be good guests. Crews work around your gardens, keep driveways and walkways clear, and leave the site tidy. On compact lots, we keep shared swales working so that your new lawn does not create a problem for the neighbours.
We also try to be straight with people. A quote should tell you what is being done to the soil, what is not included, and what could change the price. If a corner of your yard is too shady for sod, or your old lawn only needs overseeding, you will hear that from us, even if it means a smaller job. We would rather earn a referral from your neighbour than sell you more lawn than you need.
The Crew
Our crews spend their days on sod and grading, and they care about details homeowners may never notice: tight joints, firm contact with the soil, clean edges along a walkway. We are not going to fill this page with stock photos of people who do not work here. You will meet the crew at your site visit and on the day of your installation.
What Stands Behind Every Lawn
- WSIB-covered crews
- Liability insurance on every job
- Published prices and a written quote
- A free on-site visit before any work
The Sod Itself
We lay Kentucky Bluegrass grown on Ontario sod farms. It is a Canadian lawn standard for good reasons: it forms dense turf, holds a rich colour and repairs itself as it spreads. What matters most is freshness, so we time deliveries around each job and get the rolls down quickly, while they are still cool and moist.
