Caledon Lawns and Yards

The south end of Caledon is where farmland is turning into neighbourhoods. Mayfield West is a new community growing under its own secondary plan, and for many homeowners there, the first big yard project is simply getting a lawn on the lot.

New subdivision ground has a predictable set of problems. Heavy machinery runs back and forth across each lot during construction, pressing the clay-rich soil into something close to pavement. Topsoil gets stripped, stockpiled and spread back unevenly, and service trenches keep settling for a while after they are backfilled. Then the first summer arrives, and clay soils give up their moisture quickly, leaving young grass stressed.

None of that means you need a huge project. It does mean a lawn should go down on ground that has been checked, loosened and shaped. We look at what is really on your lot, how it fits the approved grading and how water leaves the property. Then we quote only what the yard needs.

Timing is the other big question. New homeowners are often ready for a lawn before the builder has finished with the lot, and laying sod too early can mean paying to fix it later. Ask your builder whether final grading has been done and signed off. If it has, we can plan around your move-in. If it has not, we will talk through what can wait and what cannot.

A note on range: we cover the south end of Caledon. Our service area stops well short of the northern villages, so please send us your address and we will confirm before you book.

Mayfield West

New homes on recently built streets north of Mayfield Road. Most projects start with bare ground or rough builder's grade, so soil depth and the sign-off on your lot's grading come first.

Valleywood

A pocket of homes off Hurontario Street and Highway 410, close to the Brampton border. With a lawn already in place, replacement may make more sense here than starting from nothing, and any settling or low spots can be fixed along the way.

CALEDON QUESTIONS

Caledon Sod Questions

Which parts of Caledon do you serve?

We cover the southern end of the town, including Mayfield West and Valleywood. Our service area does not extend to the northern villages. If you are unsure which side of the line you are on, send us your address and we will confirm.

Do you work on larger country lots?

Yes, if the property is within our range. Larger lawns are priced by the square foot, and we will look closely at how trucks and sod can reach the back of the lot. Access is often the main planning question on these yards.

Can you sod a new home in Mayfield West?

Yes, and it is the kind of job we are set up for. We will check whether final grading has been approved, then look at how much usable soil is on the lot before quoting. If you are waiting on your builder, send us your closing date and we will talk through timing.

How much topsoil will a new lot need?

We cannot say until we have looked. Some lots have a usable layer under the surface, while others have little more than a skim over clay. At the site visit, we check several spots across the yard, show you what is there, and quote any added soil as a separate line.
