Meadowvale and Lisgar

Sod Installation in Meadowvale

Many Meadowvale lawns are as old as the planned community itself. When seed and fertilizer stop working, we take out the old turf and rebuild the base.

Meadowvale Lawns and Yards

Meadowvale was built on purpose. Markborough Properties planned it as a new town, and Meadowvale South opened in 1970, with homes, paths and parkland designed together. Half the housing went up between 1961 and 1980, with most of the rest in the decade after. That gives a lot of Meadowvale lawns a common history: laid decades ago, mown thousands of times, and never touched below the surface since.

The mix of homes matters as much as their age. Just over a third of Meadowvale's households are in single-detached houses, and many others live in semis or row homes with small front lawns. On a compact yard, every dip and bare patch stands out, and there is little room to hide poor preparation.

Water is part of the neighbourhood's design. Lake Aquitaine and Lake Wabukayne are stormwater ponds, built to catch runoff on its way to the Credit River. Your yard is a small part of that same system. Clay soil sheds rain slowly, so a low spot beside a walkway can stay wet for days, and a fresh lawn has to be shaped to move that water toward the street or a swale.

Replacement here usually means working in tight quarters. Row homes and semis share walkways, fences and sometimes a swale, so crews need a plan for where the old turf goes and how new sod gets in. Getting that right counts for as much as the sod. We keep walkways clear during the job and leave shared areas as we found them, which neighbours on a close-set street tend to appreciate.

Meadowvale

Older detached homes, semis and row houses from the 1970s and 1980s. Lawns here are usually due for replacement, and small yards may reach our $1,500 minimum.

Lisgar

Developed mainly through the 1980s and 1990s, Lisgar is mostly detached and semi-detached, and over nine in ten homes are owner-occupied. Many lawns are original and starting to fail, and with so many owners planning to stay, a proper rebuild is usually worth the money.

Meadowvale Village

A heritage conservation district surrounded by much newer homes. Yards range from historic properties with mature planting to 2000s builds, so we check how a project fits before planning any work on a heritage lot.

MEADOWVALE QUESTIONS

Meadowvale Sod Questions

Can you replace a lawn from the 1970s or 80s?

Yes, and a lawn that age is a good candidate. We remove the old turf, loosen the compacted soil underneath and correct any settling before fresh sod goes down. It gives the yard a new start from the base up.

Do you work on townhome lots?

Yes, as long as the project meets our $1,500 minimum. If your home is part of a condominium corporation, check who is responsible for the lawn first, because the board may need to approve the work.

Do you cover Lisgar and Meadowvale Village?

Yes, both are within our regular range. Lisgar lawns are often original and ready for replacement. In Meadowvale Village, we will discuss the property first, since it is a heritage conservation district.

Why does the low spot by my walkway stay wet?

Clay drains slowly, and after decades the ground beside a walkway can settle a little lower than the concrete. Water then sits in that shallow dish. Lifting the turf, rebuilding the low edge and re-sodding usually solves it, as long as the water has somewhere to go.
